Privacy Policy

Last updated: 3 September 2026

This website, my-garmin-express.com (the "Site"), is an independently operated website ("we," "us," "our"). This Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the rights you hold over it. The Site is an independent educational resource. It is not operated by, affiliated with, or endorsed by Garmin Ltd.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Chat widget (Tidio)

The Site uses the Tidio chat widget as an automated guide: it asks a few questions and then points you to the relevant section of the page you are reading. Responses are automated and pre-written; no human operator participates in the conversation in real time. Even so, when you use the widget, we and Tidio process:

  • The messages you type and the options you select, and the resulting transcript;
  • Any name, email address, or other details you choose to type into the chat;
  • Your IP address, approximate location derived from it, browser type, operating system, device type, and the pages you viewed on the Site;
  • Chat metadata such as timestamps, visit count, and referral source.

Tidio acts as our data processor and stores this information on our behalf. We may review stored transcripts afterward to improve the guide's question flows. Tidio's own privacy practices are described in its privacy policy at tidio.com. Do not submit passwords, payment card numbers, government identifiers, or Garmin account credentials through the chat: the widget never asks for them, and neither do we.

1.2 Contact and registration forms

Forms on the Site are relayed by FormSubmit, which forwards your submission (name, email address, message content, and technical metadata) to our contact mailbox as email. We retain those emails in that mailbox.

1.3 Server and technical data

Our hosting infrastructure automatically records standard server logs: IP address, user agent, requested URL, referrer, and timestamp. We use these for security, abuse prevention, and site operation.

1.4 What we do not collect

The Site has no user accounts, does not display advertising, does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and does not sell or share personal information for advertising purposes.

2. Why We Process Your Information

  • To route you to the relevant section of our guides through the automated chat (performance of your request; legitimate interests);
  • To answer the messages you send us through forms or email (performance of your request; legitimate interests);
  • To operate, secure, and debug the Site (legitimate interests);
  • To review past chat transcripts and improve the automated question flows (legitimate interests);
  • To comply with legal obligations where they apply to us.

Where the EU/UK GDPR applies, our legal bases are consent (which you may withdraw at any time), performance of steps you request, and our legitimate interests as described above.

3. Cookies

The Tidio widget sets functional cookies and local-storage entries needed to keep your chat session continuous between pages. These are not used for advertising. Blocking them in your browser disables the chat but does not affect the rest of the Site.

4. Retention

  • Chat transcripts and associated chat data: retained for up to 12 months after the conversation ends, then deleted, unless a dispute requires longer retention;
  • Form submissions and email correspondence: retained for up to 24 months after the matter is closed;
  • Server logs: retained for up to 90 days.

5. Sharing and International Transfers

We share personal information only with the service providers that make the Site work: Tidio (chat), FormSubmit (form relay), our web host, and our email provider. Each acts under its own contractual and legal obligations. These providers may process data in the European Union, the United States, or other jurisdictions; where required, transfers rely on recognized safeguards such as standard contractual clauses. We do not sell personal information, and we do not disclose it to anyone claiming to be, or acting for, a device manufacturer.

6. Your Rights

6.1 GDPR (EU/UK visitors)

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data; restriction of or objection to its processing; and a portable copy of data you provided. You may withdraw consent at any time and may lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.

6.2 CCPA/CPRA (California residents)

You may request that we disclose what personal information we collect, use, and disclose; request deletion or correction; and you will not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in the CCPA/CPRA, so no opt-out is required.

6.3 PIPEDA (Canada)

You may request access to your personal information, challenge its accuracy, and withdraw consent to its continued use, subject to legal and contractual restrictions.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@my-garmin-express.com from the address the request concerns. We respond within the time limits the applicable law sets (30 days in most cases). Deleting your chat data also requires us to instruct Tidio to erase the transcript, which we will do as part of fulfilling the request.

7. Security

The Site is served over HTTPS. Access to chat transcripts and the contact mailbox is limited to the people who answer them. No transmission or storage method is perfectly secure; report suspected incidents to the address below.

8. Children

The Site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We will post any changes on this page and update the date above. Material changes will be noted prominently on the Site.
